It was just a few years ago the disgraced A-Rod was one of the most reviled figures in sports. He was a two-time admitted steroids user. His reputation for self-serving double-talk led ESPN The Magazine to publish a 12,000-word profile of the Yankees slugger — without a single quote from Rodriguez. The profile’s author, J. R. Moehringer, explained that decision by saying A-Rod was a “proven liar.” But after A-Rod returned from an MLB suspension with a bounce-back 2015 season, John Entz, Fox Sports’ president of production, took the risk of hiring Rodriguez for postseason studio coverage on Fox and FS1....

By rights, the atmospheric conditions for this story should have been as inhospitable as those of the planet itself. There’s no sign of life here, no people, no hero astronauts. Fatal chaos broke out at Houston’s NRG Park when a large crowd compressed towards the front of the stage, setting off panic. The sold-out event saw 50,000 attendees. By the end of the tragic night, several were injured and were being treated at the site. As many as 17 people were rushed to the hospital, of which 11 were reported to be in cardiac arrest. An investigation into the stampede is underway....

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One earlier today, Trump revealed that the candidates are former deputy national security adviser Ricky Waddell, Pence’s security aide Keith Kellogg, Robert O’Brien, a special envoy for hostage affairs, Bolton’s former chief of staff and ex-CIA analyst Fred Fleitz and Lisa Gordon-Hagerty, undersecretary for nuclear security of the Department of Energy. Some of the candidates are already familiar faces within the Trump administration. Kellogg, a decorated Army veteran, served as executive secretary of the National Security Council until Bolton was appointed in April, 2018....

Kyle Larson drove to a 3.619-second victory in the Hollywood Casino 400, his third win in as many weeks. He won on a day of remembrance within Hendrick Motorsports. Sunday was the 17th anniversary of a plane crash outside Martinsville Speedway that killed 10 people, including Ricky Hendrick, the 24-year-old son of team owner Rick Hendrick; John Hendrick, Rick Hendrick’s brother; and John Hendrick’s twin daughters. John Hendrick was HMS president....

At one point in Sunday’s final round, seven golfers were tied for the lead on the back nine at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. Third-round leader Dustin Johnson was in that group. The song continues to stir up controversy due to lyrics that some have considered questionable as they believe they advocate date rape. Written by Frank Loesser, the 75-year-old song first became popular in 1949 as a twice-featured song in the MGM romantic comedy Neptune’s Daughter. The Academy Award-winning film starred Esther Williams, Red Skelton, Ricardo Montalbán, Betty Garrett, Keenan Wynn, Xavier Cugat and Mel Blanc. According to Rolling Stone, outrage over the song’s lyrical content became prominent in 2007, following the emergence of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr....

But “Big Brother” has also achieved another, more distinguished milestone: this week it enters its fifth season–an astonishing run in the quick-burn world of reality TV. Despite all the attention focused on “Survivor” and “American Idol,” “Big Brother” is one of the most successful shows in all of television. With productions in 25 countries, it has been seen by more than 2 billion people. That’s billion with a “b.” Quite a following for a show that does little more than take a dozen contestants, lock them in a house for three months with 40 or so hidden cameras and watch the insane things they’ll do when they’re cut off from everything but the prospect of their own fame....

But as people rush out to see it over the next few weeks and critics simultaneously praise it while speculating about Oscar contention (Sylvester Stallone gives a performance worthy of a Best Supporting Actor nomination), don’t be surprised if this question starts popping up: Does “Creed” deserve to be its own multi-film franchise? Parker came to the defense of Prewett on Instagram Wednesday when he claimed her Fantasy Suite week was looking like his own. Though he hasn’t watched the season, Parker sent Prewett a message of support. “With that being said I haven’t been watching this season but I got the lowdown and I am proud of @madiprew for standing firm in her convictions,” Parker wrote. “Keep doing you girl!” The message comes after Prewett told Bachelor Peter Weber she’s a virgin, and she’d have a hard time committing to an engagement if he slept with either of the remaining two women just one week before a possible proposal....

The Fox show, hosted by Nick Cannon, was scheduled to air in its usual slot of 8 p.m. ET, but an unforeseen shake-up prevented that. It was previously announced that Andrew Lloyd Webber was joining regular celebrity panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke on the episode for a night dedicated to his famous musicals, which include Cats and The Phantom of the Opera. But now fans will have to wait to tune into the Webber-themed edition of the singing competition....
